“Yearning”

Gracefully walk on stage – head up, shoulders back, smiling, smiling smiling.

Face front, angle body to the left, raise arms over head with wrists crossed.

When music starts, bring hands down gracefully in front of body while criss-crossing at wrist with hand waves.

Turn to front, raise arms over head, bring hands together as if in prayer (palms flat together), lower in front of body while still “praying.”

When hands reach chest, angle body to the right, bring arms up and do same hand motion while bring arms down as before.

Face front again, bring arms up over head, wrists together, palms out.  Do one wrist circle (back to front).  Hold for about 3 seconds.

Bring right arm down and hold out to side parallel to floor, repeat with left arm.

Turn to left, place left hand on hip, hold right arm out pointing towards audience.  Do chest lift and drops to beat:

Up down

Bring chest up and begin hip circles with right hip, move hand in similar motion as hip.  3 circles, then small kick out with right foot.

Repeat.

Turn all the way to left, right hand on hip, left arm extended, moving hand in similar motion as hip.  3 hip circles, kick.

Repeat.

Turn to the left on left diagonal to audience.  Begin “wash your face” motion – two motions in front of face with right leg extended behind, weight on left foot.

Bring hands down to right hip, palms parallel to the floor, fingertips touching. Move right leg forward, even with left leg, weight still on left leg. Twist right hip toward front twice while hands move toward back at hip level.

Repeat face and hip washing two full times.

Do one more “face washing” only, turn to face audience.

Place left hand at back of head, extend right arm to side and at same time extend right leg out to the side.

Bring leg back to regular position, camel while completing one wrist circle with right hand, front to back. Repeat arm and leg motion on left side.  Camel while completing one wrist circle with left hand, front to back.

Repeat again right, repeat again left.

Cross right foot in front of left and bring right arm across body while keeping left arm extended to left.

Face front, do a 3-count step in place with arms extended gently out to sides while also completing wrist circles front to back with each hand.

Angle to the right, repeat crossing left leg and arm across body, sweep back to front with 3-step motion with arms out to sides while also completing wrist circles front to back with each hand.  Repeat to left.  Repeat to right again.

Face front, arms extended out, forward mayas beginning with right hip – right, left, right, left, while arms are extended gently to each side at chest height.

Angle to left, extend arms out in front and up and do forward snake arm.

Up with right, left, right, left, on third raising of right arm, sweep arm over head while turning to end up on right diagonal.

Repeat snake arm motion in front of body.  Sweep left arm up and over bringing body back to left diagonal.  Repeat.

After this set of snake arms, “wash your face” and “wash your hip” two full sets, ending with one additional “wash your face.”

Face front,  left hand on head, right arm extended to side, right leg extended to side.  Bring leg back in.  Camel while completing one wrist circle with extended hand, front to back.   Repeat left, right, left.

Repeat right arm across body, right leg crossing in front of left leg, turn back to center, 3-step in place, with arms extended gently out to sides while also completing wrist circles front to back with each hand.   Turn to right – left arm across body, left leg cross in front of right, turn back to center with arms extended gently out to sides while also completing wrist circles front to back with each hand.  Repeat left, then right.

Face front, arms out to side, forward maya – right, left, right, left, while arms are extended gently to each side at chest height.

Face left diagonal, snake arms in front of body, snake arms in front, right arm, left, right, left, right – sweep right arm over to face right diagonal.  Snake again in same pattern, sweep back to left diagonal to snake arm one more time.  Now wash face and hips for two full sets, do one additional face wash.

Face front, repeat left hand on head, extend right arm and leg to side, bring leg back in. Camel while completing one wrist circle with extended hand, front to back.  Repeat to the left, then to the right, then to the left.

Repeat right arm in front of body, right leg cross in front of left, sweep right arm back around so you’re facing front, do little 3-step while completing front to back wrist circles with each hand, angle right repeating left arm/leg over, back to center, do one more set to the left and to the right.

Face forward, frame hips with hands, do mayas out with hips – right, left, right, left, right, left, right while framing mayas with hands, arms moving gently in rhythm with mayas.

Angle to left, forcefully bring hands together in front of face in prayer hand position, then bring down in front of chest.  Do 8 hip circles with right hip.

Turn to front, right foot extended to front.  Raise arms up over head.  Hands meet in prayer position over head, bow from waist while bringing down prayer hands in front.

Hold pose until music ends.

Stand up while bringing arms out to side and over head, turn to left diagonal, while brining arms down crossing in front and out to sides, leaning a little to the right front.  Hold pose.

After specified time, exit stage as you entered – heads up, shoulders back, beautiful smile on face!
